Fast Times At Ridgemont High
This highly appealing teen comedy created a host of new stars -- including Sean Penn -- and features a lively rock music soundtrack. The freewheeling story chronicles the sexual insecurities and adventures of a group of Southern California high school students. These shopping mall regulars experiment with drugs, surfing techniques and various fast-food secret sauce combinations. And in class (when they even go to class!) they wreak havoc -- especially when the pizza delivery arrives...

The Breakfast Club
With this film, Judd Nelson, Emilio Estevez, Ally Sheedy, Molly Ringwald and Anthony Michael Hall joined everybody's circle of friends in 1985. A cult classic, The Breakfast Club is writer and director John Hughes' study of social typologies in high school, and how different people meet and even like each other. Brilliantly, Hughes sets the movie in one dominant scene, the library. Thus, viewers ingest Hughes' message without distraction. Besides the realistic take in the story, the Scottish band Simple Minds provide a seminal '80s anthem for the theme song, "Don't You Forget About Me".

Clueless
Loosely based on Jane Austen's classic, "Emma," high school teenagers in Beverly Hills (many of whom seem to be named after singers who now do television infomercials) change outfits, have nose jobs and cellular phones, and take care of everybody else's, except their own, social lives.

Ferris Bueller's Day Off
Conniving Shermer, Ill. high school student Bueller spends his ninth school absence in the company of his kvetchy best friend Cameron and girlfriend Sloane, tearing through downtown Chicago on a mad quest for fun. The ruse seems perfect, right down to Cameron's dad's "borrowed" Ferrari, but Ferris' nemesis, high school principal Ed Rooney, is determined to bring the truants to justice.

High School High
This film, produced by the creators of the "Naked Gun" series, takes on the grim subject of inner city high schools, spoofing such movies as "Dangerous Minds" and "Stand and Deliver." The story concerns an ultra-idealistic teacher who tries to inspire his students to learn. But as with the "Naked Gun"-type films, the plot is merely an excuse for a rapid-fire string of jokes and sight gags that send-up "ghetto life" cliches.

Barney: Let's Play School
Everyone's favourite purple dinosaur, Barney, goes to school, but Baby Bop, Barney's little yellow friend, can't go because he's too young. So the solution Barney and his pals, Ashley, Hannah, Robert and Jeff come up with is to play school with Baby Bop as the teacher. Barney Let's Play School includes Barney's versions of "One, Two, Buckle My Shoe" and "The Itsy Bitsy Spider." This wonderful 50-minute video instils a sense of fun for kids soon heading to school or just starting.
